Under direction, acts as confidential records clerk to the Police Department and performs moderately complex and non-routine clerical work involving the processing and filing of records; performs responsible and varied clerical work requiring the application of independent judgment; performs related work as required.

Police Chief Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Receives, retrieves and sorts documents, papers, forms and other materials in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines.
Scans or reads incoming materials in order to determine how and where they should be classified or filed.
Reviews and processes documents, forms and other materials in accordance with established rules, regulations and Police Department guidelines.
Locates and removes materials from file when requested.
Assigns, records and stamps identification numbers or codes in order to index materials for filing.
Enters and/or retrieves information on a computer terminal.
Files important and/or confidential legal documents in a vault or other storage media used by the Police Department; removes documents from vault upon authorized request.
May perform specialized clerical work involving the obtaining, receiving, disseminating, filing, maintaining and releasing of criminal and other law enforcement records.
Requirements:
Two (2) years of experience in clerical work involving the checking, sorting, indexing and/or filing of records in an agency or office environment.
Confidentiality a must.
Good communication, interpersonal, computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Excellent customer service.
Valid NJ driver's license in order to drive City vehicles.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
